Ingredient

For the chicken:

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
For the rice:
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

Add the yogurt and water to the skillet and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened. 6. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the rice. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and fluffy. 7. To serve, divide the rice between four plates and spoon the chicken and sauce over the top.

Notes

For a spicier dish, increase the amount of red chili powder or add chopped fresh chili peppers to the dish. This recipe can also be made with bone-in chicken pieces, adjust cooking time accordingly.
