Method

The method to make chana rice is as follows:
  1. Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves, and cardamoms to it.
  3. Saute the spices for a few seconds and add chopped onions to it.
  4. Cook the onions until they become translucent and add ginger-garlic paste to it.
  5. Saute the mixture for a few seconds and add chopped tomatoes and green chilies to it.
  6. Cook the mixture until the tomatoes become soft and add boiled chickpeas to it.
  7. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt to taste.
  8. Mix the ingredients well and add 4 cups of water to it.
  9. Bring the mixture to a boil and add soaked rice to it.
  10. Stir the mixture gently and cover the pot with a lid.
  11. Cook the rice on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
  12. Turn off the heat and let the rice rest for 5-10 minutes.
  13. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve it hot with chicken curry, raita, and salad.
