- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups seeraga samba rice
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 1 cup sliced tomatoes

- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1 cup chopped mint leaves
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste

Method
- Wash the seeraga samba rice in a fine mesh strainer and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat 2 tbsp of ghee and 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- Add sliced tomatoes and bell peppers and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well.
- Add the chicken pieces and mix well. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
- Add yogurt, chopped coriander leaves, chopped mint leaves, and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for another 5-10 minutes.
- In a separate pot, cook the soaked seeraga samba rice in enough water until it is half cooked. Drain the water.
- Add the half cooked rice to the chicken mixture and mix well.
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.
- Once the biryani is cooked, let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and fried onions.
