Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.
  3. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and discard.
  4. Cut the core out of the cabbage and discard.
  5. Place the cabbage in the pot of boiling water and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the leaves are soft and pliable.
  6. Remove the cabbage from the water and let cool.
  7. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, green pepper, celery, egg, tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
  8. Take one cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center.
  9. Roll the cabbage leaf around the filling, tucking in the sides as you go.
  10. Place the cabbage roll seam side down in a baking dish.
  11. Repeat with the remaining cabbage leaves and meat mixture.
  12. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the tops of the cabbage rolls are browned.
  14. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

If you have any leftover meat mixture, you can use it to make meatballs or a meatloaf.
